# Getting started

> Sign in and get oriented

## Before you start

You need a Microsoft account provisioned by your organisation's administrator. Readiness Record signs you in through Microsoft Entra ID — there is no separate username and password to remember, and no personal Microsoft account will work.

## Signing in

1. Open your organisation's Readiness Record URL.
2. Sign in with your Microsoft work account.
3. If your organisation requires multi-factor authentication, complete the second step.

You land on the **Portfolio** — your home screen.

## The layout

Every screen shares the same frame:

* **Left rail** — your navigation. It's split into **Work** (Portfolio, Review queue, Gaps, Actions), **Library** (Assessment Sets, Pack library, Configuration, Review calibration), then Prompts and Assessment set packs, then Ask and Admin at the bottom.
* **Top bar** — breadcrumb on the left, a **Search** box (⌘K) and an **Ask** button on the right, present on every screen.
* **Main panel** — the content for whatever you've opened.

## What each item in Work does

* **Portfolio** — every assessment you can see, grouped by workspace.
* **Review queue** — findings across all your assessments that are waiting on a decision.
* **Gaps** — everything an assessment's evidence doesn't yet cover, across your whole portfolio.
* **Actions** — the remediation tasks raised from those gaps, with owners and due dates.

The badge next to each (e.g. "426", "27", "44") is a live count of what's outstanding.

## Common questions

**Can I use a personal Microsoft account?**
No — only an organisational Microsoft Entra ID account that your admin has provisioned.

**I signed in and the Portfolio is empty — is something wrong?**
No. A new organisation has no assessments yet. Use **New assessment** on the Portfolio screen to create one.
